Whispered Interpreting ("Chuchotage")

Whispered interpreting is a special form of simultaneous interpreting that is only suitable in certain situations. For this the whispering interpreter stands or sits behind (or next to) the person he or she is interpreting for and whispers the interpreted contributions to him or her. As for simultaneous interpreting at least 2 conference interpreters work together, and then for only one or no more than two listeners (for acoustic reasons and in the interests of other participants).

In special cases ? for example on factory tours, city tours etc. it is also possible to interpret for small groups using tour guide systems. However they are not suitable as a replacement for simultaneous interpreting technology at larger events.
